The Haga Duo - Sareidah Hildebrand, flute and Joakim Lundström, guitar, combine musical passion, joy of performing in concert and virtuosity into a lovely mixture. During their performances, their relaxed and natural approach on stage and their generosity with personal thoughts about music and life is much appreciated by their audiences.
Founded in 2010, their first years of performances throughout Sweden quickly became a great success due to their technical skills, personal expression and musical sensitivity combined with great teamwork and true joy of performing in concert. Their music making has taken them on tours to: Australia, USA, England, Estonia, Lithuania, Denmark, Norway and Portugal. In the autum 2019 they will tour in China for their firts time.
Sareidah and Joakim explore the potential of the flute and guitar duo as a chamber ensemble with eager curiosity and have taken it to a high and captivating level.
Although classically trained, their range includes a variety of genres. Combining folk traditions from various countries with classical and artistic virtuosity has become one of their hallmarks.
Their first CD ’Footprints’ was released in April 2013, illustrating their interest in classical music with a traditional focus. The CD includes Argentinian tango, American folklore, Indian raga and Swedish folk ballads. CD nr. two is an introduction to classical music for children ”The Secret Room”. Released January 2016.
Their third CD ”Colours Of Sweden”, with new Swedish music written for the Duo, was released in Jan. 2018.
They manifest their passion for music in many ways. One is to showcase Swedish composers. Music by Benjamin Staern, Emmy Lindström and Mattias Lysell was premiered 2013 in both Sweden and Australia. 2015 included new premieres by Andrea Tarrodi, Daniel Nelson, Mirjam Tally, Zita Bruzaite and Mauro Godoy-Villalobos. In 2016 The Haga Duo premiered a piece by Fredrik Holm for Choir, flute and guitar. 2017 included premieres by: Anders Nilsson, Jan Levander, Anna-Lena Laurin and Erik Hanspers.
Sareidah - made her debut performance in 2001 with the Swedish Radio Symphony as the soloist in the Carl Nielsen Flute Concerto. She has extensive experience both as an orchestral and a chamber flutist. She is particularly drawn to the latter role where she meets challenges in both traditional and more adventuresome contexts.
Joakim - was trained at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Stockholm, and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. He belongs to a new generation of classical guitarists that cultivates versatility in chamber music, and is particularly interested in working with vocalists and in orchestral situations. He also plays the mandolin, banjo, and electric guitar, moving freely among different genres.
”After having played the Tango Suite myself on numerous occasions and listened to maybe 30 recordings and recitals, I was impressed and pleasantly surprised by all the new approaches brought to it by the Haga Duo. It was like hearing the piece for the first time - again!”
